    Does this focallength you calculated explain why a standard lens has 85mm focallength, the natural angle of view one gets with a 6x6 inch negative and the pinhole at the distance of the body? I know.. I should know, but can't get it right in my head.

    Yes. No. In the beginning of photography: yes. Later, Contax/Leica changed from 35 to 50mm for their cameras which is not "right", but that became the standard. Now we all have zzooom - and lost that feeling.
