I understand almost nothing

Archive

No archive - a metal box with 30,000 negatives. Stupid. This one, I think, mid-seventies. Old-fashioned TriX. Could be the Vivitar 1 series 70-210.

Professional

1980 I became a pro (ha!) First commission: the new painting in the pool. From the roof, please. Nothing artistic. (Whàt? I'm an acrophobic artist, sir!) Concrete stairs? No, a too short ladder. So I took my Distagon and made the picture on PlusX.

Getting there, maybe

Testing Fomapan100 again. Glas, in and out, reflexions - I sure would like to have a cup of tea in that room! So quiet.
Pilot.6 and ten minutes Rodinal 1:50, doesn't look bad! It seems sheet-film, 120 and 135 are different.

Gershwin on Ilford

one to fifty

Rodinal 1:50 and still not happy with the charcoal-shadow...

Just testing

Wòw! First sheet-film in more than 25 years. 9x12 Fomapan 100 in 1:25 Rodinal - very steep contrast. I never liked 100 ASA films, I'm a TriX HP5 man, grey, soft. The Technika IV, 1960, with a Schneider Super-Angulon f8 90mm weighs 3,5 Kg but handles very well. My CanoScan 8800 F only takes 7x12 cm but that's okay for panoramic views.

Gee-orgee-ow!

My (20+years) Sigma Mirror-Telephoto Multi-Coated 1:8 f=600mm is unforgiving. But when in focus, then it's remarkable! HP5 in Rodinal (yes!) 1:25

K.W.Anastigmat

Rainy day - I couldn't wait to test the Pilot6 ! The quality of the 4,5 75mm is visible, even in this very bad developed HP5 (Pilot has a T, B, 1/25 1/50 and maybe 1/100 guillotine, so ISO 100 will be a lot better!) The mirror-finder is very dark, but the FUN, working with this 1936 SLR!

And then came Victor.

The Leica Shop in Vienna sent me today this elegant Pilot.6 SLR. In the thirties the Kamera-Werkstätten in Dresden developed this type of camera, small, for 120 film and later (1938 Pilot Super) even with interchangeable lenses. This one is around 1936 with an almost noiseless mirror+shutter. But then came the war. And Victor.

Something from the past

MY past: as a sports-photographer. Found this negative and remembered: I always did weird things to Kodak Plus-X. Made my own developer, or cooked it in HC110 (like this one, I suppose). "Old" Canon F1, and "a" wide-angle ( I had lenses up to 600mm, but w-a's I borrowed from a friend. I took this picture hanging above the "water-feature").

Learning

My Argus C2 (around 1942) is a very clever camera. Pretty, too, kind of Art-Deco. The Sandmar 100mm (a bit later: Enna-Werk München U.S. Zone Germany...) is a different story. Correct focusing is essential - and difficult. Nil desperandum - as the Jesuits taught me.

Stairway to heaven...

...Independence Day! No espresso for me, after this: cappuccino - better for the heart. And the HP5 in old-fashioned Rodinal 1+25. T*Sonnar 150mm on the 500 C/M.

Little Boxes

Words and music by Malvina Reynolds, 1962. Picture 2009 with Canon FTbQL (1971), new FD 35-70 mm 3.5-4.5 (1983) on Ilford HP5, possibly in Very Old Superior Promicrol (VSOP: 15+ years!)

Introduction 2

So, in 1960 I got my first camera: a Hit. Five years later a real TLR: the famous Lubitel. I still have one. And a Meopta enlarger. And my first prints. Rain, moody skies. Twenty years of professional sports-photography and ten years drawing later I'm back in the sixties. Rain. Moody skies. I love it!

Steenkoolengels

On request: Analoog60 goes English. Definitely not my favourite language. Minchia! (Excuse my French)
About this coal-black picture: Nikonos IV-A (1980), Nikkor 2.5 35mm (1977) on HP5 in Microphen. Don't ask about the black borders: I have no idea. Just another against-the-light effect? (See june 19 below)

FOMA Bohemia

Heus. Was onmogelijk - zie nummerbord.
