I am a black and white person, and rather analogue.
But sometimes I want to emphasize a mood.

 Sometimes my scanner does wonderful things with tiny, curled and bad developed Minox films.








Sometimes I use Picasa just for fun.
Exploring the possibilities.

Like I did, decades ago, with toxic chemicals and
strange Tetenal papers. Or "eiwitlazuurverf" (don't know how that's called in English - the dyes to colour b&w prints).



"Art" is in the maker, "Kitsch" is for critics.

I just call it technique. 

Segafredo bei Vecchio

Voll, überall. Sogar bei Starbucks. De Nederlanders hebben Düsseldorf veroverd.
Tiramisù und espresso mit 'nem Lächeln bei Vecchio - ja, heute mal kein Nussbecher - rettet mich.
Letzte Einkäufe, noch ein paar Photos - bald ist Weihnachten.

Hirschwürstchen...

...und Käse le Baron, Pralinenkranz bei Leysieffer, ein Engelchen für Elisabeth, Schokolade für Samstag (Дед Мороз), Sekt natürlich, Stollen. Confit de canard. Viel zu tun, heute, noch ein Pflaumenmuffin, noch ein crêpchen,
und photographieren wollt'ich auch noch. Auf Fomapan 400.
Nachher nur 2Km zähfliessend, alles paletti.

Dòch !!

 ...Wie käm ich denn sonst durch den Advent, so ohne Mörchenkäse oder Butterstollen von Gunter Weissbach! Aber vorige Woche streikte der National Blitz (und heute streikte mein Nikon F50...).

Herbstsonne

Könnte heute noch trocken bleiben, und ich brauche unbedingt Qualitätszeug. Seh' ich in den Arkaden "La Cure Gourmande", herbstfarbenfroh und sehr freundlich.
Stelle aber in K'Galeria fest dass der Caviar um 25% teurer geworden ist - wòw!
Neues Handwörterbuch hab' ich mir auch noch geleistet. Demnächst also trockene Brötchen...

Zo'n doordeweekse dinsdag, koffie met een appelflap bij de Hema, Mariken, kermis (net niet) in de regen, ff over de Waalkade, de Stevenstoren, een oud straatje op oude film in zeer oude chemie - Nijmeegser kàn haast niet.

Well, basically it hasn't changed a lot in 50 years, but it feels  very different. Clean, empty; it didn't grow, it was made.

Sambafestival

Mijn fantasieën bij "samba" zijn geenszins PC, een paar jaar geleden werd ik nog wel eens verrast maar vandaag weer veel oudere jongeren die op trommels bonken en verder, ondanks het mooie weer, ehh....

Chinafest

Perfekt um 'n alten Ektar zu testen in meiner Смена.
Sehr farbenfroh, das feuchtwarme Wetter passend zum Thema.

Prins Hendrik 1915

I found a 1915 postcard and went for a walk, this morning. The trees are older, bigger now, but almost everything is still there, the barracks, the houses.
My aunt Elisabeth lived here, once upon a time. I visited her on birthdays, for tea in delicate china, petit fours, and (rather strange) Ricard. (She was the most beautiful girl of the village in her youth, I developed a taste for absinth, later...)

The folding Brownie, the papers, the developer - all wartime stuff.

Sommer

 Ich brauchte Sonne, Sommer, Eis.
Vecchio in der Altstadt also, und nach zwei Doppios hatte ich Energie für ein paar Schritte extra, also: nach Heerdt. Wo der Monolith mit sich machen lässt. (Kleines Bild: Oktober 2013.)

E Interesting film: sixties Imperiale S Pan, (Spanish, or Ilford FP3) with "built-in Y filter". In fourties Stierle MQ, the Brownie 2 on Kodak 4 (F22). At Kodak 3 the neg is "better" but I like this fog.

War Horses

 Beek 1914: roaring Germany is on walking distance. We are neutral, but nevertheless: mobilization, horses get requisitioned.
Today, early morning: bikers, walkers, touristic atmosphere. In my wartime Ernemann I have 1949 Ansco triple S Pan, later developed in 1914 Eastman .

1914 Nijmegen 2014

 A century ago men were gathering at this school in Nijmegen. Mobilization. The HBS is gone, some 1897 houses opposite still standing.
The WWI "Trenches-Ernemann" still going strong, Eastman powders from that time also. Then, and now.

1915

In 1915 the Netherlands were neutral, and in Nijmegen the concert hall was built. The best acoustic in the land. The rest of Europe was destroyed by the Great War, Ernemann made this fine tiny camera so German soldiers could make heroic pictures in the trenches...

Well, as you see, the building still stands, nicely spoilt by flags and stuff.

I had Fomapan in the wartime Liliput, developed in Eastman powders from that time.

 Comment on the old post card: "only one car!" Well, this morning there still was only one car, but what a difference...
And the "Groote Markt", most of the old buildings are there, but are they really those old buildings?

My 1928 Brownie is genuine, as is the Stierle developer from Marquette, at 5 cts moderately priced and still working (hard, because the modern Shanghai GP3 is, let's say: delicate...)

Grandeur

Once upon a time Nijmegen was a rather posh city, flowers all over the place, big hotels. In the sixties it all crumbled and now all that's left is an Agfa Click-II, green filter, and memories. I had that strange Magnum 25 after I took the picture.

Then and Now 50

Nice weather, so I put that old 1955 photo in my pocket and old ISS in my also 1955 Brownie and went on a sentimental journey.
Well, the times they are a- changin'.

Pfifferlinge!

 Nicht unbedingt spanisch aber Sie wissen: hier bei Madrid gibt's den Marquis und ich brauchte unbedingt etwas sommerliches.
In der 1938 Retina war Микрат 200, entwickelt in vierziger Kodak Pulver, funktionierte alles öhhhh... wie erwartet.

Schwarze Kirmes
