The Italian Connection

"When in Rome..."
So I bought a Ferrania micro AG.s and discovered that it doesn't fit on my Italian cameras. Bought Sylvania flashbulbs and those are made in the USA, and the cubes in Belgium.
But when the going gets tough, I get trodding through Florence and found Sylvania! WOW!
And some of them still did work. So this post is not about arty expressionistic photography, but about  hope and resignation.
Good for my soul.

btw - all these old colourfilms (Minolta = Kodak, Quelle = probably Agfa, and AgfaHDC) are done in Tetenal Colortec.

The Yawning

I am the proud owner of an almost complete 1962 Click-II: camera, filters, hood and working flash! So I loaded that with those big old bulbs and they really got me through the night. Normal problem with flash outside: no reflecting walls, but those (clear) bulbs have enough power, as I found out.

On modern Shanghai, this time not dribbling, but with strange black spots. Every film an adventure, how do these cunning Chinese dó that?!

Pen on Porsche

No, not Irving Penn, but Olympus Pen. With a National flash. Because my electronic/notorious Minox35GL broke down (and doesn't do anything at all) and my Pen, although the diaphragm is stuck, still works, even with the flash!
So: German/elec - Japanese/mech 0-1 KO.

International effort

No, it isn't snowing: this is the Russian 1992 Свема-fog.
 In the Japanese Yashica635 + Sun tele-aux.
In the German Agfa ISI-K were English 1B bulbs (Atlas), look at the bike-reflectors!
And all this in the oldest city of the Netherlands

Flashing

I rather like this modern way of flashing; in fact, a couple of decades ago I - well, maybe not on the net.
Anyway, last week I found myself tinkering on old bulb-flashlights, trying to synchronize pre-war cameras and stuff.
So, to start a new label: today my only E-flash picture that survived from around 1965.
Later, as sports photographer, I had to use the Metz 60 + 36 to span the big halls with a loud blob.
More, very low-tech, to come in the next weeks.

Special (very)

The data: Queens Day 2012, pre 1957 Gevachrome ortho in the 1950 Agifold, 1/25 at F8. In Rodinal.
So far, so good.
But then I thought: why not test the flash-sync.
Well, the Agfa alone wasn't enough, but with the фотон added, bounce-flash to avoid shadows, I got the image.
Wow. You can clearly see the colour change (yes, and the fog, but she is 55+)
